Counting the Days…
We are counting the days (it’s 6 5) until the Out In The Streets fest at Brooklyn Fireproof. Our bands are getting stoked, the artists are preparing to install, and the free beer is sitting on N 12th street, waiting to be delivered. We’d like to mention that LiveTapp has created an APP (yes, we have an APP!) for the festival. Free swag if you check in at the event! Link to come.
What’s up with some of the musicians playing OITS? Last week, NewVillager just released their new self-titled album on IAMSOUND records, which is available for purchase on insound, amazon, and itunes. Their sound is described as “Michael Jackson meets the Beatles” with both old school soul and new age pop influences. They’re also playing at the upcoming Midpoint Music Festival (that I REALLY want to go to) in Cinncinati- other headliners include Washed Out, Starfucker, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Congrats to these guys !

Milagres are one of those super busy Brooklyn bands. A few weeks ago they played a set at the L Magazine’s SummerScreen screening of Jurassic Park (awesome) with their dreamy rock jams. Their first single “Glowing Mouth” was featured on Indie Music Filter’s summer mixtape which is free to download until 8/28, a prestigious spot among great folk bands from Bon Iver to The War on Drugs. They also just released a video for their newish single “Here to Stay.” Check it out below- it’s funny to say the least.

Happy New Year also just premiered a new video on Impose for their new single “Gold Medallion”. Set at Coney Island, and featuring cuecards, a stripey black dress over chunky golden beats.

Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang brought their African Beats to a show with NYC-brass-conosseurs and buzzband RubbleBucket to Brooklyn Bowl last weekend. A fusion of traditional bubu music of Sierra Leone and modern synth melodies, this band will not be one to miss at OITS.

Stay tuned for more details on OITS artists.
